Are we being tricked into eating food and told that the answer to this is more excercise? Are we being numb to the fact that what we are placing in our bodies is slowly killing us and our families? When is the last time you read a label on the back of a food item you purchased? When is the last time you made a decision of what you placed in your body and it was more about how healthy it was and not by the cost?
Watching the movie above proved to me that I need to ask myself some tough questions about my cheap food budget that I set for myself weekly. If you are wondering where or why I am asking myself these types of questions is because this documentary of the food business shocked me to the core. The movie is called Food Inc. and digs into our food industy.
The documentary speaks to us in a way that says currently we tell the food industry that we want cheap feel good food, that is full of stuff that we don't need. Then after we eat it, we go to the gym or to a run so that they can melt if off of us.
This is like trying to fill up a cup of water with a hole in the bottom of it. It will never be filled. How do we fix this? How do we stop from doing something that we may know hurts, but feels so good? Over the rest of this year I am going to try and find out how for myself and I want to challenge readers of this blog to do the same! To me its not about not eating meats. Its more about knowing where my food comes from and making smart decisions about what I buy to feed my family.
Some may read this and say "I AM GREEN ALREADY" Its one thing to recycle a can or pick up trash, but to think that this act of humanity and where you puchase your meat does not go hand in hand after this documentary would be silly. Please go and watch this movie! I want you to tell me what you think! It is something that has got me thinking at least.
